Hello!!! This is a letter from our seniorr pastor................................................................... read read
Dear RiverLife Family,
>
> Finally, after months of preparation and weeks of promotion, we are
starting
> the 40 Days of Purpose campaign today on 29 February 2004. 29 February
is
> not just another date. It comes once every four years. Similarly, this
is
> not just another campaign. It is our first in many ways.
>
> It is our first ever church wide spiritual growth campaign. Never have
we
> had 1700 participants in a single program. If we include the primary
> children, this figure would exceed 2000. Never have we had so many new
small
> groups (cells) being formed. The number of cells in our church has more
than
> doubled from 73 to 148 groups. These numbers are still growing with new
> people signing up every week. Never had the staff team worked so closely
> together. We are learning teamwork on the run! Our ministry
infrastructure
> and leadership capacity has been stretched razor thin. It certainly has
> brought us to our knees. We have never prayed so much for a single
program.
>
> That God¡¯s hand is on our church is beyond doubt. Week after week, I
stand
> amazed seeing the campaign coming together. Week after week, I sense the
> worship atmosphere at our services and prayer meetings becoming more
> vibrant. Week after week, I hear testimonies of lives being challenged
and
> touched by God. Week after week, I see our staff, leaders, members and
> worshippers becoming more and more excited about discovering and living
God
> ¡¯s purposes. Only God! Only God!
>
> My quiet time reading this morning was 1 Corinthians 2. Verse 9 says,
¡°No
> eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has
prepared
> for those who love him.¡± This is what we have been praying for, that
God
> will reveal His purposes to each one of us. I am not talking about just
> hearing sermons on them, discussing them in a small group or reading
about
> them in a book. I am talking about receiving revelation in our spirits.
I
> have no doubt that ¡°God had power to do what he had promised¡± (Romans
> 4:21b). When Elder Freddy Boey started preaching at the Saturday service
> tonight (Feb 28), I felt a stirring in my heart that it will be a
powerful
> message. Freddy has always preached good messages. But there was a
special,
> unusual anointing. God¡¯s presence was strongly present.
>
> Thank you all for being so responsive to church leadership. Nearly 90%
of
> RiverLifers signed up by the 3rd weekend. Thank you, cell leaders, for
> allowing your groups to be ¡°invaded¡± by new members and to be
multiplied.
> I count it a privilege to serve with such dedicated servants. Thank you,
> Staff and Elders. Your commitment to the flock and willingness to grow
> assures me that RiverLife will be well led.
>
> Tomorrow onwards, I will stop reading 1 Corinthians for my quiet time.
For
> the next 40 days, I shall be reading ¡°The Purpose Driven Life¡±. This
will
> be my fourth reading. But I shall be coming before God with an expectant
> heart, like a brand new Christian, eager to soak in every thing I can
learn
> from Him. For some reason, I have been praying that I will not remain at
the
> same level of faith I have been the last few years. I have been praying
(at
> times pleading) that I will live at a higher level of faith after these
40
> days.
>
> After 40 days, I will resume reading 1 Corinthians. I have a feeling
that my
> quiet time will never be the same again. I will start to see what no eye
has
> seen, hear what no ear has heard, conceive what no mind has conceived
what
> God has prepared for those who love him.
>
> Blessings,
>
